    +Modern Warfare 2 Features Third-Person Mode?
Activision and developer Infinity Ward are grooming Modern Warfare 2 to be the biggest first-person shooter release in years, but recently leaked footage suggests that the FPS market isn't all they're gunning for; Modern Warfare 2 looks like it might feature a third-person view mode. The extremely low-quality video above was streamed from a French gamer who somehow got ahold of the PlayStation 3 version of the game well ahead of its November launch date. If this footage turns out to be legit, then you can expect to see a behind-the-back camera option in at least one of Modern Warfare 2's modes. We've reached out to Activision for a comment on the supposed leak, but have yet to hear back from them. We'll fill you in the moment we know anything more.

    +Netflix Officially Coming to PS3
Well, the stories of Netflix streaming coming to a new device were true: today Sony and Netflix made it official that Netflix is coming to PS3. The service will arrive on the Sony console next month and will be free to PS3 owners who already subscribe to the service (or $8.99 a month for those who don't) -- and unlike on the Xbox 360, people will not be required to pay the equivalent of the yearly $50 Xbox Live Gold membership to access it.

+Spector Explains Epic Mickey, Why it's on Wii
In an interview with Game Informer (via VG247), Junction Point Studios' Warren Spector has finally explained in some detail what his mysterious Epic Mickey project is all about -- and how it reflects his thoughts on game design in recent years."The central game play mechanic of Disney Epic Mickey is paint and thinner," Spector says. "It's basically drawing and erasing; it's making the world whole, or making it go away." He went on to explain that the design concept was based on his belief that environments in video games don't have enough going on behind the surface."[If] you peek behind the walls you see that they're flats held up with 2x4s," Spector said. "And so I wanted to create -- of all the games I was pitching since I left Ion Storm, were about creating a world that was more than a movie set, where you could scratch beneath the surface and there was more going on there. And so this whole paint and thinner mechanic really plays into that because you can dynamically change the world to suit your needs. So dynamically changing the environment to solve problems is kind of what it's about."

+Uncharted 2 DLC Coming Before End of the Year
Speaking in an interview with IndustryGamers, Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig confirmed that downloadable content for Uncharted 2 will be available before the new year."We're working on that now, and what we're prepared to say is that there will be DLC available before the end of the year," Hennig said about DLC. "Without going into specifics, it'll involve new maps, new characters, things like that. Some of it will be free of charge and some of it will be purchasable."This goes along with what Naughty Dog has previously said about DLC, as they'll be focusing on the competitive multiplayer when creating new content.

+Job Listing Confirms 'Next-Gen' Project from Boom Blox Team
It looks like we may have an HD version of Boom Blox in our future. Superannuation picked up on a new Electronic Arts job listing for their Boom Blox team that confirms their next game will be for the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 (via Joystiq)."Our last two titles were Wii-based, but our next titles will be for the next generation," reads the description of the job posting. Conservatively assuming they don't mean the PlayStation 4 or Xbox 720, then yeah, it's probably a PS3 or 360 game they're working on.Couple this with past indications that the series could show up on other platforms, and it looks pretty likely that a Natal- or PS3 motion wand-enhanced entry in the series could be coming next year. As usual, though, without official confirmation, this remains pure speculation for now.

    +Nintendo Planning DSi Speak Channel?
Could Nintendo be planning on launching a voice chat application for the DSi soon? Sure seems that way, as Nintendo themselves slipped a mention of a "DSi Speak" channel on the customer support page of their official website (via Edge-Online).The mention of the channel has since been removed, but the page originally read, "To redeem a Nintendo DSi Download Ticket number, such as for the Nintendo DSi Speak Channel, enter the number off the Nintendo DSi Download Ticket in 'Settings and Features' off of the main Nintendo DSi Shop page, then select Nintendo DSi Download Ticket."More than likely this would be similar to the Wii Speak Channel, which uses the Wii Speak microphone accessory to allow up to four people to chat with each other. A voice over IP option on the DSi would certainly add an interesting new element to the handheld, but obviously this wouldn't exactly make it a direct competitor to the iPhone. Still, everyone loves added functionality, right?

+Activision Says DJ Hero Sales May Start Slowly
It may be a spin-off of one of the most successful video game franchises of all time, but does that mean DJ Hero will be a sure success? Not right off the bat, Activision says. Speaking to IGN, Red Octane co-founder Kai Huang said they expect DJ Hero sales to start slowly and build momentum over time (via VG247)."We're not expecting a typical videogame curve where you sell the majority of the units in the first month and then it decays quickly," Huang said. "We're expecting this to be the type of game that may come out of the gate a little bit slower, but continue to grow over time."Huang explained that despite the built-in brand recognition, the drastically different gameplay style makes it a case of almost starting from scratch. "We've got a bit of a head start, people have an understanding what music games are, it has the 'Hero' brand on it," he said. "But at the same time, people don't know what a DJ game is. They don't know what you're supposed to do. Our strategy again is to focus on in-store demos.

+Netflix Instant Watch Expanding Soon to a New 'Device'
According to an AP story, Netflix stocks are riding high after management announced they'll soon be extending their "watch instantly" Internet streaming service to a new "device."Just what is this device? Netflix, as if channeling their inner 12-year-old, isn't telling -- not yet, anyway. As of now, they've only hinted that it's "already owned by a large number of consumers." This, of course, has revivified speculation that the service will soon become available for the PlayStation 3 or Wii.In fact, analysts are already betting the device they're referring to will either be the PS3 or Wii. To be sure, it's hard to think of any other devices the service could easily be extended to that are already owned by a large number of consumers. And it'd almost certainly be good business for Netflix, as they credit their move to the Xbox 360 for spurring the influx of 2.4 million new subscribers since fall of 2008.

+Dragon Age Origins Also Releasing on PS3 November 3
Back when BioWare pushed back Dragon Age Origins' release date one last time, from October 20 to November 3, they also announced the PlayStation 3 version would be following "later in November." Not so anymore. Bioware co-founder Ray Muzyka has confirmed the game will release on the PS3 on November 3 right along with the 360 and PC versions in North America (via GameSpot). The confirmation comes along with the announcement that the game has gone gold and is heading toward mass manufacturing, so stalwart fans who've been looking forward to this game for five frickin' years can rest assured it won't be delayed again. Musyka also confirmed that the PS3 version's PlayStation Trophies will correspond with the previously revealed Achievements for the 360 version. Now, there is one bit of bad news if you're reading this in Europe, as the PS3 version of Dragon Age Origins is still releasing later in November there. "[We're] still working on the EU release timing for PS3," said Muzyka. "We'll have an announcement on that shortly -- [it's] still planned for some time a bit later in November."

+Elder Scrolls Novel Blurb Seems to Confirm Oblivion Sequel
Considering how well The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion sold, it's pretty likely Bethesda will make a new game in the series eventually. But according to a blurb describing author Greg Keyes' "The Infernal City: An Elder Scrolls Novel," the prospects for a sequel have become a lot more likely (via Kotaku). The Waterstone's retail site's listing for the novel originally had a blurb that described its story as "[taking place] forty-five years after the Oblivion Crisis, which is the story of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion game and the expansion pack Shivering Isles. It partly bridges the gap for the next game, which is set 200 years after the Oblivion crisis."Next game, huh? Set 200 years after Oblivion, eh? It sure seems to confirm a sequel, but you probably won't be surprised to learn that this portion of the blurb seemingly confirming The Elder Scrolls V has since been removed from the retail listing. So don't necessarily take this as a confirmation, but if the blurb was indeed accurate, it looks like Bethesda is already setting the pieces for a sequel in place.
