Futuremark announces a Shattered Horizon contest that rewards players for various feats of in-game derring-do and creativity. Contests range from simple "play at this time" random drawings to complicated "make a video" judged competitions.

Gamasutra: Rock Band publisher MTV Games confirmed to Gamasutra that Boston-based Harmonix laid off 39 workers, or 13 percent of total staff on Thursday, a move "unrelated" to any supposed lagging sales of the studio's product line, a rep for the company said.
