After an underhanded attempt to sell the Phoenix Coyotes after the NHL had stepped in to help with payroll dollars, a bankruptcy fight that went on and on over the summer, and after losing millions upon millions of dollars, Jerry Moyes has finally agreed to sell his team back to the NHL. Of course the sale of this club will have to be approved by a Federal Bankruptcy Judge, but the safe bet here is he will allow the NHL to buy this team, and then do with it what they can.
One really has to feel bad for Denny Hamlin. Denny went out and won a NASCAR Sprint Cup race, which isn't exactly the easiest thing to do, and he was even able to beat Jimmie Johnson which is a near impossible thing to do, and yet all those accomplishments are being swept aside since Denny has nearly no chance to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup title. Even after winning Sunday's race Denny is 352 points behind point's leader Jimmie Johnson. The most points that a driver can make up in one race is 165 so technically he is not mathematically out of it, but there is virtually no way for Hamlin to make up that difference.
For the third year in a row this team collapsed in the second half of the season. Going way back to 2006, when this team won the American League pennant, they were unable to win their division with a late season series versus the lowly Kansas City Royals. Last year at the, All Star break they were in first place, and ended up finishing in last. This year their collapse took the entire regular season, and even a 163rd game. After being in first place for much of the year, this team failed to even make the playoffs. They made a couple of low key moves and the tirade deadline that simply did not work, and their fans are left to wonder why can't this team finish strong?
