+Packers not gloating about No. 1 defensive ranking
OK, so no spontaneous shouts of, "We're No. 1!" broke out in the Green Bay Packers' locker room Tuesday.Packers defensive players aren't going to pull any muscles patting themselves on the back for the NFL-best 281.5 yards they've allowed per game so far this season. They're busy preparing for the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night and other ...

+Allen heats up, Celtics rout Bobcats 108-90
Ray Allen broke out of his shooting slump with 27 points, Kendrick Perkins added 21 points and 12 rebounds and the Boston Celtics cruised past the Charlotte Bobcats 108-90 on Tuesday night for their fifth straight victory.

+2009 MLB season in review: Los Angeles Dodgers
What can you say about a team that wins 95 games, advances all the way to the National League Championship series, and really a team that should have a much rosier short term future? It seems that the Dodgers are in store for a huge collapse, the pending divorce proceedings between their owner and his wife, who had served as President of the team seems to be a harbinger of very bad things. On top of that their lack of a true Ace started was exposed during their post season run.

+2009 UFL season in review: Las Vegas Locos
The Las Vegas Locos won the first ever UFL championship on the strength of a 4-2 regular season record, a great three point victory in the UFL championship game. It is kind of ironic that the Locos are owned by William Hambrecht, who happens to be the found of this upstart UFL league. For their wonderful inaugural season they were awarded the William Hambrecht trophy. Even though they won the first championship, they are as of right now the second best team in this league.

+Lions coninue to blitz 40% of the time
The Lions are continuing to blitz 40 to 50% of the time because they cannot get a steady pass rush with just their front four. While the blitz scheme is a well designed one, and Lions players are frequently getting into the opponents backfield free, they are not registering very many sacks.

+Matt Ryan to miss pivotal game against the Eagles
Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan will miss his first NFL start this week against the Philadelphia Eagles. Ryan has been diagnosed with a turf toe injury and will sit for at least this week. Back up QB Chris Redman will get the start the game versus the Eagles, but the Falcons are facing a must win situation and are minus at least three starters on offense.

+MLB looking to play games in Puerto Rico
According to the Sporting News and New York's Daily News, Major League Baseball is in serious negotiations with a promoter in Puerto Rico about the possibility of playing some regular season games there as early as the 2010 season.

    +Ovechkin tests his right knee
Alex Ovechkin's right knee doesn't seem to be the issue. He says it's just sore.

+Florida DE Carlos Dunlap arrested near campus, charged with DUI days before SEC title game
Top-ranked Florida could be without one of its best pass rushers against No. 2 Alabama in the Southeastern Conference championship game.

    +Aguero - Future imperfect
Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has acknowledged he may be leaving Atletico Madrid in the summer.

+Saints stay unbeaten with 38-17 win over Patriots
Drew Brees and the unbeaten Saints left Tom Brady in the dust, zipping up and down the field in a dominant romp over the New England Patriots.

+2009 UFL season in review: Florida Tuskers
Without a doubt the Florida Tuskers were the best UFL team in 2009. They completed an undefeated regular season, only to lose to the Las Vegas Locos in overtime of the first ever UFL championship game. Beyond being a great team, this is a fun team. Without doubt the best name, and best uniforms of the new league. In fact the Tuskers are one of the most uniquely named pro-football teams to come along in a long time. Given the many Arena leagues, and other football leagues that have sprouted up in the last decade that is really saying something.

+Is it time for Jake Delhomme to sit?
The Carolina Panthers have a very large problem outside of their very disappointing 4-7 record. QB Jake Delhomme has never fully recovered from a terrible start in lat year's playoffs, and the time has come for him to be benched. For Head Coach John Fox he may be time for him to strip away Delhomme's job before the Owner of the Carolina Panthers decides to strip away his own job.

+Fort Campbell Parents Carry On Football Tradition
(11/27/09) - Parents of a high school football player who died in July continue to support their son's team.
